For finessing desert singletrack and zipping around our favorite backyard loops, we rely on the Furtado Carbon C X Eagle AXS Mountain Bike. The Furtado is built around a mixed-wheel design to take advantage of the rollover ability of a 29in wheel up front, while the 27. 5in rear wheel provides the nimble characteristics that the Furtado is known for. 130mm of lower-link VPP travel sees tweaks to the anti-squat and shock tune to bring more stability to high-speed descending scenarios. Thanks to the efficient nature of VPP, Juliana ensures that this bike stands up in the travel while climbing, and a steep 77. 1-degree seat tube angle (size small, low position) provides a comfortable pedaling position. Our favorite feature is the new Glovebox frame storage, which lets us stash the included Tube Purse and Tool Wallet right in the downtube along with a spare layer or snack. Juliana pieced together a beauty of a build with this bike, kicking things off with their C Carbon layup which is a touch heavier than its CC Carbon counterpart but is less expensive and equally stiff. SRAM’s GX Eagle AXS shifter and derailleur handle drivetrain duties which we appreciate for their low-maintenance performance and instant shifting. Another build highlight is the ARC Offset 30 wheels from Race Face which are super durable and do a great job of quieting trail chatter. Maxxis Minion DHR II tires front and rear hook up nicely in corners and are super lightweight thanks to the EXO casing. The RockShox Pike Select+ fork provides 140mm of travel that feels efficient on the climbs and nimble on the descents.
