Description
From ripping through singletrack to cranking out cross country climbs, the Santa Cruz Tallboy is one of our go-to bikes when we need an aggressive bike for cross-country or trail riding. With 120mm of VPP suspension, the Tallboy boasts efficiency and forward drive with every turn of the pedal. A 65. 5-degree headtube angle and size-specific chainstays allow for a nimble ride through flowy singletrack and stable and confident descending in the steeps. Size-specific seat tube angles give riders of every size the same perfectly-centered position for pedaling, and size-specific carbon layups provide optimal frame stiffness for every frame size. The Tallboy’s leverage curve was revised, giving it a more supportive first part of travel and a more supple and sensitive end stroke. This gives us a more comfortable and responsive ride by allowing us to ride higher in the travel in the beginning of the stroke and have a more plush suspension in the final third of our travel. Other notable features of the Tallboy include a Glovebox storage system that allows us to stow all our trail essentials out of the way in the downtube of the frame and an integrated downtube protector, chainstay protector, shuttle guard, and shock fender to keep our frame protected from damage. The Carbon R build of the Santa Cruz Tallboy is the entry-level build, however these components are far from entry level. Santa Cruz’s Carbon C frame is made with choice carbon fiber and designed to the same specs for strength and stiffness as their premium Carbon CC frames. SRAM’s NX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain provides us with a huge gear range for getting us up technical climbs with ease. The 4-piston SRAM Guide T brakes give us loads of stopping power in a lightweight, trail-oriented package, while a pair of RaceFace AR Offset 30 wheels let us roll through rack gardens and ride aggressively without worry. A RockShox Pike Base fork with 130mm of travel is reliable and plows through rough trails. A Fox F…
