He is a graduate of Tennessee State University, where he played on the golf team, and majored in political science and philosophy.† He said learning to deal with being a minority on a campus that was predominantly black was a challenge that became one of the most important experiences of his life.†† He is an avid reader and cites the stories of Malcolm X and Gandhi among those which have inspired him.
